UPDATED FAQ's 24th January 2022

When will I be notified who my new GP practice is?

There are still approximately 600 patients who have not responded to the letter and the two text messages to inform the CCG of their preferences for a new GP practice.   The CCG will be allocating these patients to a practice this week.

The CCG then needs to carry out the following process before communicating with patients

  1. Double check all patients are within the receiving practice boundary area
  2. Confirm with all receiving practices the number of patients they will be taking
  3. Send letters to patients to inform them of their new GP practice

Patients should expect to receive their letter by the end of February 2022.

Please refrain from phoning the practice to ask as they will not have the details as the process is being supported by the CCG.

We felt it was extremely important to allow patients to choose where they would like to be registered in the future.  However, by doing so this process has proved more complex and time consuming than anticipated.   The area that patients are registered within covers a large geographical area reaching into Surrey and also the south east of Hampshire such as Bordon.

The CCG has to ensure these areas are also fully aware of the situation and the potential impact on their responsible GP practices as this team working on Bentley Village Practice is solely responsible for GP practices within the North and Mid area of Hampshire.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience at this difficult time.

URGENT: BLOCKED SURGERY TELEPHONE LINES- PLEASE DO NOT CALL REGARDING TEXT MESSAGES 11TH AND 12TH JANUARY:

Please be assured these are from us- apologies to those who have received a message without the textback number at the bottom. At the end of the message there should be a mobile number- that is the reply number.  We have had several hundred responses so the problem may be due to different types of phone.  Please DO NOT CALL THE SURGERY- this is not urgent and your preference can be emailed, hand written or a facebook message sent to let us know your choice.  We have several weeks to get this information.

IMPORTANT DISPENSARY UPDATE: 10th January 2022

Dear Patients, our pharmacy opening hours are below as a reminder.

Pharmacy nomination:

Please can we also ask that you have a think about which Pharmacy you would like to nominate on your GP record for future prescriptions to be sent to. Choosing a Pharmacy now means that when your records transfers to your new GP Practice there will be minimal disruption to your request for Medication. Please advise us of your chosen pharmacy by 31st January 2022. A text will be sent to all patients with a reply option to enable us to update your record without blocking the phone lines. Some local pharmacies and their details are listed below.

Prescriptions:

We will continue to dispense for our patients as long as we possibly can but will let you know when your medications will be sent to your nominated pharmacy either by text, email or call.

Controlled Drugs:

With immediate effect all controlled drugs will now be dispensed through your nominated chemist. Please do contact the surgery so we can update your records with your future pharmacy.

IMPORTANT - CANCELLATION - Memorial Hall Meeting - re. Bentley Village Surgery Closure

The meeting at Bentley Memorial Hall on Tuesday 14th December, re. the closure of the surgery, has been cancelled. This is as a result of the current Omicron situation and the transmission risks associated with bringing patients together in an indoor setting.

Alternative zoom meetings will be offered so that people who planned to be at the meeting, and others, will still be able to talk to staff from the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and the practice.

Please refer to your letter about the closure of the practice which contains details of the two zoom meetings already in place for today and Thursday.

Please keep an eye on https://bentleysurgery.org.uk as this will be updated when additional alternative zoom-based meetings have been arranged.

Please spread the word, especially to neighbours who may not use Facebook or email.

Thank you,

Personal letter from the Partners of Bentley Village Surgery

Dear Patients,

Please see the above personal message from the Partners here at Bentley Village surgery.  Full and regularly updated information is available via the 'News' tab above.  Please can I also ask you to read the message below from myself on behalf of our full staff team.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

‘Help- The Practice is closing’...... (a poem written from the Practice Managers' viewpoint)

The Patient....

The Village Surgery is closing,

What does that mean for me?

I have to choose another surgery from the list,

there is so much uncertainty.

I have always seen the same doctor,

now who will understand?

I'm anxious of the changes

This wasn't in my plan /(an answer I demand)

Bentley Surgery Staff....

The Job I have come to know and love is coming to an end,

not only is this my workplace,

but a home of lots of friends.

I have worked here for quite some time now,

confidence I have gained,

Starting somewhere new will be daunting,

I'm anxious of the change.

Summary....

We are all in this together,

just coming from different sides,

lets help each other navigate this change

and complete our beloved surgery with pride.

Seeing the situation unfold for our staff over the coming months has been a real struggle.  The staff here at Bentley Village Surgery are second to none.  Every day they arrive and try to help every patient that attends or calls.  This has been difficult with reduced staff numbers, mainly in Reception- meaning some days it has been the same person on shift all day.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please can I ask that all patients are considerate and kind to our staff- we are all here to help and will do our very best to do so.  There are changes that have been implemented here at Bentley such as the ECONSULTS being requested for daily triage. We are not alone with this as we along with all other surgeries in our locality are commissioned to use this service.  We see patients every single day and each E consult is triaged by a clinician and seen within the timescale necessary.  This service enables URGENT appointments to be expedited daily.  I understand that this may feel obstructive, but it really is to ensure we can provide the right clinician at the right time for your need.

Contacting GPs' personally

Please note- we are unable to book appointments or relay messages to GPs directly.  We have several patients calling to book appointments wishing to discuss the surgery closure.  Please can you refer to the meetings organised via the CCG for any questions.

Kind regards

Rachael Sowerby

Practice Manager

PRACTICE PROCEDURES 2021

Medical settings remain a higher risk environment and continue to be subject to stricter control measures than other public facilities.

We are maintaining the use of social distancing, face masks and PPE for clinical staff. We need to minimise the risk of asymptomatic patients coming to the surgery when they might be contagious. This means current procedures for limiting the number of people in the surgery will remain unchanged. It is our duty to do all we can to keep both our patients and our staff safe whilst we deliver our care.

We request all patients visiting the surgery to wear face masks, to sanitise their hands and to adhere to social distancing measures.

We are grateful for your co-operation and support.

Please see our Covid vaccination programme update here   23/09/2021
